As rates
can be changed without a public announcement and we provide a sample of
20-year mortgage rates, check the data on individual sites and use the
repayment calculators, which will give the total monthly repayment.
Lenders are losing money on Tracker Mortgages which
have a fixed add-on rate to the European Central Bank benchmark rate of
4%. Because of the credit crisis and the resultant high inter-bank rate,
some lenders have raised the rates applying to trackers and it is
expected that the mortgage type will be phased out. For more information

In recent months, lenders have also raised other rates
and tightened conditions.
The ECB raised its key interest rate by 0.25% to 4.25% on
Thursday July 3, 2008.
There are some 24 banks offering home loans with around 330 mortgage
products in the market, Irish Mortgage Corporation's
Frank Conway said.
"There is good value out there, but you need to
look around to find it," Conway said.
