British Sugar Group, part of Associated British Foods plc, today announced the opening of its office in Dublin to service its growing customer base in the Republic and Northern Ireland.

The office will open on Monday 27 September 2006.  Following this, on Tuesday 24 October, a launch event will take place at the Four Seasons Hotel where customers will have the opportunity to talk to the British Sugar team.

Commenting on the announcement, John Potts, Head of European Sales at British Sugar said;

“The opening of this office demonstrates our commitment to the Irish market and our customers.  It will ensure we can provide the level of support required by the food industry across the island of Ireland.  It also emphasises the importance of Ireland as a strategic market in British Sugar’s growing international business.”

This expansion in Ireland will allow British Sugar, the market leader in the UK, to extend its supply chain infrastructure and enhance its offering of high quality products and professional services. A full range of products including granulated, bulk, bagged, milled, screened, liquids, inverts, syrups will be available to customers, in addition to the unique range of British Sugar speciality products.

Greencore announced the planned closure of its remaining sugar processing factory at Mallow, County Cork earlier this year, following a change in EU sugar market rules in response to a World Trade Organization ruling.
