A Cork-based software company has announced that it is to create 51 technology jobs in Cork developing e-commerce online store software.
NitroSell, was founded by Tom Keane and Gerry Walsh in 2005 and says that it has web enabled over 500 retail businesses, mostly in the US.
The 51 new jobs will be based at NitroSell’s new 4,000 sq ft headquarters in Airport Business Park, Cork, which was opened today by the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment Micheál Martin TD.
Nitrosell said it will shortly complete a €1.5m funding round, of which €750,000 has already been invested by venture capital firm Enterprise Equity.
This brings to over €3m the amount the company has raised since it started up two years ago.
“This is just the type of indigenous firm that the Government is keen to promote in order to create a knowledge economy,” said Martin. “It has proven global potential and its technology and business model places it alongside the next wave of internet-based company successes.
“NitroSell has developed sophisticated technology which helps traditional retailers leverage their existing systems to go online and become part rather than a victim of the global growing revolution in online commerce.”
Nitrosell currently employs over 16 highly skilled people and the new jobs will be in the fields of software engineering, sales and marketing and global channel management.
Charles Garvey, who was CEO of horizon Computer Systems has become CEO and NitroSell’s board also includes Kindle Banking founder Ron Downey as chairman and Iona co-founder Colin Newman as a non-executive director.
